Le Xu's Innovative Self-Assembled Seat Wins Silver A' Design Award

Le Xu's inspiration for the V Stool came from observing the lifestyle of the post-90s generation. This group, characterized by their lower income, smaller living spaces, frequent moves, and love for online shopping, also pursues a certain quality of life. Recognizing these characteristics, Le Xu designed a flexible, space-saving, easy-to-transport, and stylish piece of furniture to enhance their living experience.

The V Stool stands out for its unique properties. Made of solid wood, it features a simple yet stylish design that makes clever use of the traditional tenon-and-mortise structure. The stool can be disassembled and assembled with bare hands, without any connecting parts. Its flat design reduces transportation costs, making it an ideal product for online sale.

Produced using wood cutting and acrylic CNC technologies, the V Stool is made from beech or integrated bamboo and acrylic. Its dimensions are 360mm×360mm×450mm. The design process, which started in September 2019 in Hangzhou, was completed in May 2020 in the same city.

Le Xu faced several challenges during the design process, particularly in the structural design. The designer had to innovate a new tenon-and-mortise structure that would allow the stool to be disassembled and assembled while maintaining its firmness. The result is a product that perfectly blends contemporary aesthetics with traditional craftsmanship.

The V Stool's award-winning design is a testament to Le Xu's innovative approach to furniture design.
